Is the Honda Accord a good car? With yet another Car and Driver 10Best trophy on its mantle, the Honda Accord has firmly—and we mean "you're not going to that party, young man" firmly—cemented itself as the best midsize car model over the last 30 years. Since C/D started handing out awards in 1983, the Accord nameplate has won a spot on that 10Best list 37 out of 40 times, which is a remarkable feat considering no other vehicle has more than 24 wins.
That 37th segment-best-affirming victory comes on the back of the all-new, redesigned 2023 Accord. Reliable, fuel-efficient, spacious and surprisingly fun to drive, Honda's flagship sedan is inarguably the midsize class's standard bearer – and it's available for sale and lease at a Honda dealer near you right now.
What's new with the 11th-generation 2023 Accord? Let us count the ways...
2023 Accord: Changes & What's New
While the new '23 model utilizes its predecessor's platform, it's otherwise a complete redesign, inside and out.
Exterior Style
The 2023 Accord arrives on showroom floors with a bulkier frame—it's 2.8 inches longer than the 10th-gen, for example—which is emphasized by a flatter front- and rear-end, squared-off grille, and boldly chic taillights. Premium proportions. Broader stance. You get the idea. (It didn't skip leg day, essentially.)
Interior Tech

Accord's cabin gets the full treatment, too. A redone dashboard takes cues from the latest Honda Civic, offering metal honeycomb-mesh vent accents, a customizable 6-inch head-up display and, at the top of the center stack, an available 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Honda's largest display ever.
At the top of the trim levels, customers gain access to a new premium 12-speaker Bose sound system with Bose Centerpoint technology, which replaces the outgoing model's 10-thumper setup.
Yet another notable new addition to the Accord lineup is Google built-in. Users can utilize Google's array of voice-command-ready tech, like Google Assistant, Maps and Play. Opting for the Accord Hybrid Touring gets you 3 years of Google built-in with unlimited data.
Safety
Honda is committed to keeping you safe, which is why they've installed new, next-gen front airbags in all Accord models; these are designed to reduce brain and neck injuries in the event of a crash.
Honda Sensing has also expanded across the lineup. All Honda Accord models now come with new or improved tech, such as rear seat reminder, Traffic Jam Assist and an evolved version of Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, to name a few.
Performance
Under the hood, the two gas-sipping Accord LX and EX models are connected to a 192-horsepower 1.5L turbo VTEC engine and reworked CVT. Engine noise has been subdued dramatically, according to Honda's clever design team.
In an effort to switch from internal combustion (ICE) engines to more sustainable drivetrains, Honda has dropped several Accord iterations – namely models with a 2.0 Turbo option – in favor of a more diverse ICE-Hybrid lineup. Aside from the entry-level LX and EX trims, all mid- and top-range models will strictly be Accord Hybrids.
Don't scoff, you sourpusses! Honda's pulled some sort of medieval magic out of their proverbial hat by engineering a hybrid car that doesn't actually feel like a hybrid car. (It's the Beyond Meat™ version of hybrids, if you will.) All Hybrid Accord models (Sport, EX-L, Sport-L and Touring) are equipped with a refined 2.0L 4-cylinder that makes 204 total horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.
Fuel Economy
Perhaps best of all, the Honda Accord Hybrid is now the most fuel-efficient Honda car money can buy. The 2023 Accord EX-L nets a combined 48 mpg (51 city/44 hwy), with the sportier Sport and Touring models pulling in 44 combined mpg.
Pricing
Affordable, family-friendly sedans are on the auto industry's Endangered list these days; good family sedans are virtually extinct. That's why the Honda Accord is such a fantastic buy.
