What’s in a name? That which we call a Honda Odyssey by any other name would smell as sweet.

We don’t want to call Shakespeare a liar, but we’re calling him a liar. Names do matter; they incite excitement, they set bars, tones and expectations.

Sure, Honda could have called its Odyssey the “Honda Minivan,” but a nameplate of such simplicity doesn’t carry the same iconic weight. Because when you hear the word “Odyssey,” your adventure-yearning imagination begins working overtime, picturing backdrops of landscapes long forgotten and many a fork in the road. That’s why, even before the first Honda Odyssey rolled off the conveyer belt, it had America’s heart.

Now that the 2021 Honda Odyssey is peeking over the horizon, it’s time for America to pack their suitcases and embark on a new trailblazing journey.

Introducing the New 2021 Honda Odyssey

Cemented as one of the top minivans in America for over two decades, the Honda Odyssey sees its 2021 model push even more boundaries. With a scheduled release and sale date of fall/winter 2020, the new Odyssey debuts with an epic list of equally epic upgrades and changes.

Refreshed Exterior

Honda’s “Ultimate Family Vehicle” looks even more charming in 2021.

A redesigned blackout grille up front is emphasized by shiny chrome trim, foglight housing, and a slimmer front fascia. Bracketing the fancy grille are new LED headlamps that are more powerful and efficient than models of the past.

Underneath Odyssey’s rear windows are new glossy black trims, accompanied by strips of chrome.

The upper Odyssey Elite trims come with all-new 19-inch alloy wheels and automatically dimming side-view mirrors.

Premium Cabin Upgrades

A number of notable new features and systems can be seen throughout the Odyssey’s cabin.

An improved center stack with updated climate controls is standard across the board, as are fold-flat seatbacks in the middle row. (This is extremely handy when removing the second-row seating.)

Odyssey EX and upper trims come with illuminated USB ports and plush tri-colored floor mats, while EX-L and higher models get extra rear USB outlets, a smart liftgate, restyled seats complete with contrast stitching, power-lumbar support (front-side passenger), and mid-row seat pockets.

Models at the top of the Odyssey range (Touring and Elite) receive all-new dashboards with piano black accents that extend to the doors and handles. The 2021 Odyssey Elite also adds perforated leather upholstery in the front two rows, plus exclusive piping designs on all seats from bow to stern.

More Safety Features

Perhaps the biggest upgrade to the 2021 Honda Odyssey is the inclusion of Honda Sensing to the list of standard fare. Now the base Odyssey LX gets the entire suite of driver-assistive and safety tech, which was previously only standard on EX trims and higher.

Honda Sensing includes:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Road Departure Mitigation System
  • Lane Keeping Assist System
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
  • Automatic Pedestrian Emergency Braking

Additionally, the 2021 Odyssey also gains an all-new Honda safety item: Rear-Seat Reminder. This system, which is exclusive to Odyssey Touring and Elite models, alerts drivers to check the back seats before exiting the vehicle. It utilizes the unique CabinWatch camera to feed the back rows directly onto the vehicle’s center touchscreen. The paired systems – Rear-Seat Reminder and CabinWatch – are the first in the entire minivan class.
